Terrain: Pimping a Sarissa building for North America - Part 2

For our games in the settings ACW, AWI and Western Skirmishes etc. I need more buildings and the first one is finished.

Originally a kit from Sarissa I rebuilt and pimped it so that in the end only the core is original.
The chimney has been completely rebuilt from Styrodur, walls and the floor of the veranda got a plank structure, the windows are glazed and the roof has been completely new covered with single shingles made from balsa wood.

Pastel crayons were also used for painting and weathering, especially for the planks of the veranda, in order to imitate the typical lively wood tones.

All in all very time consuming, but I think it was worth it in the end.

Terrain: Pimping a Sarissa building for North America - Part 1

I like to stage my painted figures for good photos and for me personally this also includes the right settings, i.e. terrain, buildings and details like this.

For my painted Possé of Chinese fighters for Western skirmishers, I still lacked suitable terrain, here above all a  building. But as luck would have it, I still had a kit from Sarissa made of MDF.

However, I´m not a too big fan of the typicall MDF look, so I had to pimp the kit accordingly.
This includes a new chimney made from foam, the planks of the walls were trimmed to look like rather old cracked wood and all roofs were rebuilt from individual shingles I made from Balsa wood.

A few more steps are done: The roofs of the veranda and the shed are covered now.

The roof is complete but not coloured yet:

ACW: Divisional Stand - General Buford with Standard Bearer

Another addition for my Union force - the man himself: General Buford!

While his standard bearer with the flag of his First Cavalry Division is a standard Perry plastic cavalry, Buford himself is heavily scratchbuilded.

The base is a Perry ACW cavalry officer with parts from Perry plastic DAK (goggle), Desert Rats (small parts like the bag for maps), the pointing arm is from Warlord Games Fallschirmjäger, all connected together with greenstuff for belts and so on.

ACW: 1st PA Light Artillery, Battery B, attached to the I. Corps of the "Army of the Potomac"

And another (and last for the moment) battery for the Union; 1st PA Light Artillery, Battery B, that belonged to the I. Corps at the time of the Battle of Gettysburg.

10pounder Parrot and the crew are all Perry Miniatures again.

And now my for the time being complete force of Union artillery, ready to repell the Confederates:

ACW: 4th US Artillery, Battery B, attached to the I. Corps of the "Army of the Potomac"

The next battery for my Union forces: 4th US Artillery, Battery B, attached to the I. Corps of the "Army of the Potomac"

It´s a 12pounder Napoleonic 6-gun battery and this time, the model itself and the complete crew are from Wargames Foundry, the miniatures were a joy to paint and I like their poses very much ;-)

The next Union battery is ready to give battle to the Confederates.
The "2nd US Horse Artillery, Battery A" is one more battery for for Bufords Cavalry Division.

3" ordnance model is from Wargames foundry, the crew a mixtures of Wargames Foundry and Perry Miniatures from their plastic range again.
